America's Test Kitchen is looking for a visionary storyteller and seasoned media executive to lead our television, video, and podcast teams. This new position will develop and execute the company’s media strategy with the goal of broadening our audience and increasing our revenue. The VP, Media will build on existing strengths (our two top-rated television shows, a successful digital video strategy, and growing suite of podcasts) and develop new shows and new business lines.
The role has two main functions—content and business development. On the content side, this position will leverage the ATK brand and assets (including recipes, product reviews, books, and talent) to develop new media properties for the core adult business as well as our new kids business. Projects include launching new television shows (for adults as well as for kids and families) as well as creating new video and podcast content to drive traffic to our websites and support our thriving digital subscription businesses.
The VP, Media will lead the evolution of the company’s media business strategy, identifying opportunities and platforms, developing tailored pitches and projects to exploit these opportunities, and negotiating deals with networks and streaming partners. In addition to developing new internal projects, this position will find outside projects ATK can acquire and/or co-produce.
Mentorship and management of the staff is a key part of this position. In addition to leading a creative team of more than 20 producers, this position directly manages the Executive Producer, TV & Podcast, and the Executive Producer, Video, as well as several of the company’s top media talents. The VP, Media also partners with a variety of content and business partners throughout the organization, including leaders in digital, social media, design, marketing, sponsorship, human resources, and finance.
This position will lead our efforts to identify, hire, and mentor new talent, with a goal of continuing to diversify our talent and our audiences. The VP, Media will also lead efforts to reach Spanish speakers in the U.S. and increase our international distribution and grow our non-U.S. audience.
This position reports to the Chief Creative Officer and will work very closely with our CEO as well as our Chief Digital Officer. The VP, Media will join the company’s executive leadership team that sets strategy for the entire business.
