About the TeamWe are seeking an energetic Director of QA who will play a key role in elevating the quality of our SmartTV user experience. Our award-winning SmartCast system is used by millions of people each day. Our WatchFree+ service allows users to watch over 200 cable-like channels for free. In this role, your QA Team will be ensuring the quality of both of these flagship products.
You will be driving quality initiatives across your QA organization and working loosely with counterparts in other QA organizations. Collaborating with our engineering team and managing other QA leaders, you will execute test passes and report issues through our bug tracking system. You will also leverage our custom tool to improve the overall quality of our data and triage production-level issues. As a member of our fast-paced group, you will be responsible for validating the overall quality of our SmartTV across our entire VIZIO lineup.
What You Will Do
- Lead Senior QA Managers, both on-site and in remote locations, establishing best practices in the QA domain.
- Collaborate with our centralized QA department to integrate team-specific test plans into our overall VIZIO-wide regression tests.
- Drive the creation of additional QA Teams and tasks, as necessary, to ensure all customer-facing software is working as intended.
- Maintain our test plans through our TestRail project and ensure these tests are properly executed according to our requird cadence.
- Ensure engineering teams have detailed reports of all issues encountered, including the exact environment and specific steps to reproduce the observed issue.
- Use tools and data analysis to determine that our software is working as expected, even non-visual features such as proper telemetry and analytics reporting.
- Perform ad-hoc front-end testing of SmartCast as real customers would experience our system.
- Validate, and correct, the metadata presented in the user experience.
- Ensure the 3rd party partner apps are working as intended in regards to their deep-linking behavior from SmartCast and WatchFree+
- Verify that video playback is successful across the combination of VIZIO devices, partner apps, and different pieces of content.
- Help troubleshoot issues across all of our environments, production and pre-production.
- Collaborate with local and remote team members and participate in our Scrum engineering process.
- Deliver regular QA status reports to executive leadership team.
About You
- 5-10 years experience as a people manager.
- 2-3 years experience providing technical leadership in consumer-facing products.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to establish measurable goals for your team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience presenting to the executive leadership team.
- Ability to work collaboratively across different divisions, maintain positive relationships with others, and establish a productive and fun work culture.
- Proven ability to drive issues and deliver quality results with a great deal of autonomy.
- Experience in project management and detailed understanding of testing methodology
- Experience working with HTTP tools such as Postman, Charles, Fiddler to capture, inspect, modify, and playback HTTP requests.
- Experience with running automated tests through automation software such as Selenium.
- Ability to document and troubleshoot errors with precise steps to allow others to reproduce the issue on their devices.
- Strong attention to detail and patience to track down difficult issues.
- Possessing an analytical mind, critical-thinking skills, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Professional experience in the QA space, or similar role in improving the quality of a product
- 1-2 years experience as people manager for other QA testers
- Working knowledge of test management software such as TestRail, Jira, Confluence.
- Experience working with BI tools to perform analysis against data warehouse.
- Ability to write simple scripts, code, and automate tasks.

For Colorado-based employment: The minimum salary for this position is $115,000/year. The compensation package includes the quarterly bonus in addition to a range of medical, dental, vision and other benefits.
